Early in her career, Ms. Ellum worked with a municipal engineering department during which time she oversaw all aspects of utility design and construction. From design and easement acquisition through construction administration and project close-out, she was involved in all phases of utility line work. Prior to starting Ellum Engineering, Ms. Ellum worked with several consulting firms. While with these firms she worked on projects varying from dam removals to the design of UV disinfection systems. Over her career, she has gained expertise in various aspects of water treatment and distribution system design and wastewater collection and treatment system design. She is known for her excellent construction administration skill set, her proficiency in hydraulics, her thorough QA/QC reviews of water and wastewater designs, reports and construction documents and her knowledge of permitting requirements associated with utility projects.


Mike Brookshire, P.E

Before joining Ellum Engineering, Mr. Brookshire’s worked for the City of Asheville Water Resources Department for 27 years. During his tenure Mike served as City Engineer, Water Maintenance Superintendent and general civil engineer. His duties were varied and involved all aspects of activities necessary for the successful operation of a municipal water utility. Some tasks Mr. Brookshire performed were the design of water lines, booster pump stations, control valves and various other capital improvement projects designed to bolster reliability and redundancy of critical assets and other activities. Since joining Ellum Engineering, Mr. Brookshire has provided Construction Administration on several water line improvement projects, has participated in upgrading a Master Water Supply Plan and has assisted in the development of a Risk and Resiliency Study.


John Garner, P.E

Mr. Garner has considerable experience in all aspects of dam engineering from watershed modeling and hydrologic analyses through design and construction inspection. Over his professional career, John has provided engineering services on more than 70 dam projects and has developed an expertise in each of these areas related to dams and their associated stormwater management systems. At Ellum Engineering, John provides construction administration services, with a specialty in work associated with concrete tanks, slabs and other related structures. Additionally, Mr. Garner provides CADD services for Ellum Engineering.
